Keg Springs Winery

Out in Maury County, Keg Springs Winery makes its home on the western edge of Hampshire, down a tangle of country lanes well away from the interstate. You feel the city fall away with each turn, and when the vineyard finally comes into view, Nashville seems much farther off than the mileage suggests.

Why not hand those lanes to us with our Keg Springs Winery tours? We send a chauffeur to gather your party in Nashville and bring everyone home again, and once you arrive, the Hamm family’s team pours the wines and hosts every event.

Winemaking Learned in Uniform

Brian Hamm picked up winemaking while serving as a U.S. Army helicopter crew chief. After his service, he and his wife, Becky, opened the winery in 2003, and their first 200 gallons of handcrafted wine sold out almost as soon as they went on sale. He has since collected more than 100 medals in regional, national, and international competitions and earned recognition as Tennessee’s winemaker of the year in 2011. Every glass you taste here traces back to that Army-era curiosity.

The business is still family-owned and family-run after two decades on the Tennessee Wine Trail, and Brian still tinkers with existing wines and new varieties. Veterans’ groups and service clubs book this trip for the story as much as the wine, and 50 of them fit in our Mini Bus with the service stories flowing long before anyone lifts a glass.

Free Tastings at the Bar

Brian makes the wines on site from carefully selected regional grapes, and you can move from dry reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to crisp whites like Vidal Blanc and on to sweet fruit and Muscadine wines.

  • Tastings cost nothing for guests 21 and up with photo ID, so your budget only needs to cover whatever bottles you fall for.
  • Glasses fill between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., Wednesdays through the weekend.
  • Packaged cheeses and crackers are on hand for a nibble as you taste.

Two Wine Clubs

  • The Masters Club suits dry-red lovers, with a dozen bottles four times a year at 35% off.
  • Back Road Sippers ships three wines of your choosing on the same rhythm at 25% off.

Whichever you pick, you save 20% on purchases in between shipments.

A Winery for Every Season

Warm-weather weekends move the fun outside to a deck with a wide view of the Tennessee countryside, while the colder months bring everyone indoors.

Bingo Nights on the Deck

Bingo evenings are a favorite tradition, full of friendly competition, and nobody expects you to be a seasoned player; plenty of guests simply come for the wine. Instead of cash, players win Keg Springs Dollars and spend them in a live auction to wrap up the night, bidding on prizes from gift baskets to unique surprises. Our Sprinter Limo has room for the baskets as well as the twelve people who won them, which matters more than you would think on auction night.

Saturday Concerts

Free concerts run on the deck from 2 to 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays from spring into fall, drawing a crowd from well beyond Hampshire. They are open to all ages, with slush tastings for the adults in the crowd.

Holidays Indoors

Chilly afternoons turn the tasting bar into a warm escape. Decorations change with each season, and Halloween and Christmas get the most festive treatment. The shop stocks wine accessories, glassware, jewelry, and seasonal décor, which come in handy when a few names remain on your gift list.

We can leave the SUV’s cargo area empty on December runs, because six shoppers in a gift shop fill it. For a private party, the winery’s events team handles the booking at events@kegsprings.com, and we run the shuttle, as up to 56 guests at a time fit in our Motor Coach. Spring adds a Mother’s Day brunch to the calendar, a treat for the mom in your life who already has everything.

Heading Home After Bingo

Once the auction ends, daylight may be gone. Getting to the highway then takes four separate stretches:

  • The first mile follows Keg Springs Road out from the gate.
  • Another mile on Cathey’s Creek Road leads to a bridge.
  • Across the bridge, Dry Fork Road runs roughly four miles to US 412.
  • US 412 then carries you past Columbia and on toward Nashville.

Country lanes that seemed charming on the afternoon arrival are much harder to read at night. For anyone used to city streets and streetlights, that stretch can feel like the one downside of an otherwise great outing. We drive every mile of it, gate to highway, while your group settles in for the long stretch toward the city lights.
