Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Tours

A whiskey tasting raises one practical question: who drives afterward? When Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery tours are part of your Nashville weekend, we provide a professional chauffeur so you can focus on the tasting.

Your outing remains private, too. You choose the pickup point, tell us who is coming, and decide whether Green Brier is the main attraction or one stop in a longer afternoon. We reserve the vehicle for your group alone.

The Nelson Family Story Behind the Tasting

There is considerably more here than a tasting counter. Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery sits at 1414 Clinton Street in Marathon Village, a short distance from downtown Nashville. Its story reaches back to Charles Nelson, whose whiskey business began in the 1800s before Prohibition eventually brought production to an end. Descendants Andy and Charlie Nelson later revived the family name and its Tennessee whiskey.

Once your chauffeur brings you to Clinton Street, the distillery takes over the whiskey education. Its standard Distillery Experience + Whiskey Tasting lasts approximately 45 minutes to one hour, with a Certified Bourbon Steward leading guests through the Hall of History, production floor, and rickhouse before a curated tasting of four selected whiskeys. The distillery asks guests to check in 10 to 15 minutes before their reserved time.

A few details help us set your pickup time:

  • Tastings run daily: Current tour hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
  • Weekend reservations matter: Green Brier says Friday through Sunday experiences frequently sell out and recommends reserving online ahead of the visit.
  • A valid ID is required for tastings: Guests who intend to sample whiskey should have it ready at check-in.
  • The restaurant can extend the stop: Lunch runs Wednesday through Saturday, while Sunday brings brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

That last point matters when we set the chauffeur time around your Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery tasting experience. A one-hour distillery reservation leaves plenty of time for lunch, cocktails, the Mercantile, or a Rickhouse tasting. Once we know what you have reserved, we match the chauffeured hours to the day you have in mind.

Starting the Day at BNA or at Your Hotel

Some whiskey weekends begin at a hotel. Others begin at Nashville International Airport (BNA) with suitcases still in tow.

If your Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery tour falls near the beginning of your Nashville visit, you do not have to piece together separate transportation for each part of that first day. BNA has a dedicated Ground Transportation Center, and the airport lists limousine services under its ground transportation options.

From the airport, the day can run in two directions:

  • Hotel first: We take you from BNA to check in and change before heading toward Marathon Village.
  • Distillery later: We place Green Brier after lunch, or another Nashville stop.

If you are organizing the outing from another state, you may already know the flight number, hotel, Green Brier reservation, and head count, but not how those pieces fit together. We link them into one chauffeured itinerary, not a series of separate transfers.

One reminder: baggage collection and the trip into Nashville come first, so leave enough room between landing and a prepaid tasting to reach Green Brier for check-in.

Pairing Green Brier with Wine, Beer, or a Slower Afternoon

One advantage of choosing Green Brier is its location in Marathon Village, where another tasting does not necessarily require a long cross-city drive. Green Brier has previously promoted its Clinton Street neighbors, listing Corsair at 1200 Clinton Street and Grinder’s Switch at 1310 Clinton Street.

From there, the visit can go in several directions. Whiskey fans can spend more time at Green Brier, add its restaurant, and leave Marathon Village after the final pour. Groups with mixed tastes can follow the whiskey with a local wine stop, or add a brewery later in the day instead of stacking several similar tastings together. Others prefer to book just one tasting and leave the rest of the afternoon open for Nashville.

Matching the Vehicle to the Occasion

Two people celebrating an anniversary need a different cabin than fourteen friends marking a birthday, so we start with the occasion and group size.

For two or three guests who want a low-key outing, our sedans accommodate up to 3 passengers and give couples or a small party a private setting between the hotel, distillery, and dinner. Groups of four to six can share one of our SUVs, which seat up to 6 passengers. For a larger celebration, our Executive Sprinter accommodates up to 14 passengers, so the whole party arrives and leaves together.

Maximum capacity is only part of the picture. Let us know how many people are attending and what you are bringing along, especially if you’re bringing airport luggage or purchasing bottles from the Mercantile.
